As an Instagram user, whether an individual promoting your personal brand or you use it for leisure or a business that intends to convert other users into clients, there always the need to sometimes download images and videos from one’s own account, as well as others’ accounts on your mobile so as to view or use them later.

Here is How to Download Instagram Stories 

We will show you how to download Instagram Stories – your own stories as well as stories from other accounts on both iOS and Android devices. They include:

 Archive stories to download

Going to your “Setting” to activate this in your Instagram app is a great option to automatically save all stories you publish on Instagram. You can repost or re-use these stories to create Instagram Stories Highlights.

Below is how to go about it:

  • Go to Settings on your Instagram account
  • Click on ‘Archive’
  • Activate ‘ Save Story to Archive’ in the ‘Saving‘ section for Android while ‘Save to Camera Roll‘ for iOS.

Simple right?

With this activation, your posts on an Instagram story will be saved in the Archive section, from where you can easily download stories into your phone library.

Another question may be, how do I access these saved stories?

Follow the steps below:

  • Go to Settings on your Instagram account.
  • Click on ‘Archive’
  • Your Instagram stories are saved in your account, so they will just pop up as categorised by date on the Archive screen

Instagram Stories can be Download directly to your phone

It is worthy to note that you can download stories right when you make them just by clicking the download button (a downward facing arrow) before posting. All your downloads are instantly saved in your Photos or Gallery.

However, through these procedures, your clip will be saved in your camera roll/photos too.

Now follow the below steps:

  • On your Instagram account, tap “Your Story” and view the story you want to download. ( This can be found in the top-left corner of the screen.)
  • As it plays or shows, tap the three dots that says ” More” and select “Save” from the menu.

Anyway, it’s important to note the following differences:

  • Select “Save Photo/Video” to save that specific story/ each individual story. This is mainly applicable to Android users.
  • Select “Save Story” which allows you to save all of your current stories as a single, vertical video or save an entire Instagram Story from the past 24 hours. This is only available on an iPhone.

You will have to wait for the video to render. It should now be in your phone’s photo/camera roll folder once it is done.

You can Download Instagram Stories By Saving Stories from other accounts using apps.

Our concern here is not to list the available apps for downloading Instagram stories to your phone but to use examples to show you how. Such apps include Story Saver and Story Reposter.

Story Saver

This app goes for Android users. How to use Story Saver.

  • Download the app from the Google Play store and log in with your Instagram account.
  • You will see stories that the users you follow have posted on the main page and further search for other users using the search bar.
  • Scroll through to select the videos or photos that you want.
  • Click “Save”. The photo automatically saves in the Story Saver folder created on your phone.

Story Reposter ( For IOS)

This app can be used for different purposes but for downloading and saving purposes, below are all that you need to know.
Firstly, the app only saves stories that are posted by profiles that are public.

This app doesn’t demand that you log into your own Instagram account. All you need to do is to allow it access to your iPhone’s photo library. Use the Settings app on your phone to do this.

After that, once you login to the app, follow the steps below:

  • Search for your desired Instagram username or handle.
  • From the search page, select the profile.
  • A list of all the stories they’ve posted in the last 24 hours both photos and video will be shown.
  • Tap on a story you want to download.
  • Click the “Share” button and select “Save Image” or “Save Video”.
